ABOUT
GUIMEDIC

We act as a catalyst, changing people's lives living in poverty while creating opportunities for medical students to realize their potential as humanitarian doctors.

MISSION & VISION.

Our Vision: A world where all people can have access to high-quality health care no matter where they are from or where they live.

Our Mission: To empower people and communities facing poverty and disease by providing a preferential option in health care.

GUIMEDIC strives to achieve two overarching goals:

  1. to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need

  2. to provide consistent and accessible medical care for indigenous communities, who have been largely overlooked by the healthcare system

In order to carry out our mission, GUIMEDIC establishes long-term relationships within these communities, connecting teams of doctors and medical students who bring their skills and knowledge to remote areas of Mexico.

WORKING TOGETHER,

HEALTHCARE FOR ALL.

OUR
HISTORY.

Founded by Dr. Rosales in 2011, GUIMEDIC is a humanitarian medical association built on the belief that access to medical services is a human right, and health is invaluable.

As a part of her medical degree, Dr. Rosales successfully completed a mandatory year of social service. She was assigned by the Health Secretary to a remote area in the State of Jalisco, which happened to be eight hours away by car from the nearest hospital. Dr. Rosales reflects on her experience:

On my way there, I thought I would have a clinic with equipment, but when I arrived there was nothing. After a few days in the community, I met Maria, an indigenous woman. She had walked more than 20 hours with her sick newborn to ask for my help, but when she arrived, her baby was already lifeless. I could feel her pain.

Moved by the tragedy she witnessed, Dr. Rosales took action to address the root of the problem - access. She started GUIMEDIC, a humanitarian medical association dedicated to bringing health services to remote areas in Mexico to ensure no one was left behind, without care.
